Why castings
The most concentrated compost on earth.
Worm castings are what's left after red wigglers digest organic matter: a fine, dark, crumbly material coated in the microbes and humic compounds that make soil come alive. A little goes a long way.
Slow-release nutrition
Plant-available nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and micronutrients, released as plants need them instead of all at once.
Living biology
Billions of beneficial bacteria and fungi that unlock nutrients already in your soil and crowd out disease.
Better structure
Castings improve aeration and drainage while holding more water, so roots breathe and beds stay moist longer.
Won't burn
Low in salts and gentle on roots. Safe for seedlings, seed-starting mixes and hungry tomatoes alike.
Clean and odorless
Smells like forest floor, not the barnyard. Fine to use indoors and around kids and pets.
Less input, more growth
Stronger germination, deeper roots and healthier plants with less synthetic fertilizer.

How it's made
Slow food for soil.
Good castings can't be rushed. Ours take months from feedstock to bag, and every step is done by hand.
- 01
Feed
Worms get a consistent, clean, plant-based diet. What goes in decides what comes out.
- 02
Work
Red wigglers digest the bedding over several months, building humus and a dense microbial community.
- 03
Harvest
We harvest in small batches so castings are fresh and biologically active, never stockpiled.
- 04
Screen & bag
Every batch is screened fine to remove bedding and cocoons, then bagged by hand and dated.
Castings are alive. Treat them like a probiotic for your soil, not a bag of dirt.
How to use
A little goes a long way.
Castings won't burn plants, so there's no wrong amount. These rates are where we see the best results for the cost.
Storage tip. Store castings cool, shaded and slightly moist with the bag loosely closed. Use within a year for peak biology.
Potting mix
Blend castings into your mix before planting.
10-20% by volume
Transplants & seedlings
Add to the planting hole and backfill around the roots.
1/4 cup per hole
Established plants
Top-dress around the base and water in. Repeat every 4 to 6 weeks.
1/4 to 1/2 in. layer
Beds & lawns
Spread evenly, rake in lightly and water deeply.
10 lb per 100 sq ft
Worm tea
Steep in unchlorinated water for 24 hours, then drench or spray. Use the same day.
1 cup per gallon
FAQ
Good questions.
What exactly are worm castings?
Vermicompost: the digested, microbially rich material that composting worms leave behind. It's the most concentrated form of compost you can buy, and one of the oldest soil amendments in agriculture.
How are castings different from regular compost?
Everything in a casting has passed through a worm's gut, which coats each particle in beneficial microbes and stable humic compounds. The result is finer, more consistent and more biologically active than thermal compost, with nutrients that stay available longer.
Can I use too much?
Practically, no. Castings are low in salts and won't burn plants. Above about 30% of a potting mix you're paying for more than the plant can use, so we recommend blending.
How do you ship live worms?
In breathable bags packed in bedding, shipped early in the week so they never sit in a depot over a weekend. Open the box on arrival and add them to a prepared bin the same day.
How should I store castings?
Cool, out of direct sun and slightly moist, with the bag loosely closed so the microbes can breathe.
